BACKGROUND
WinTech is a global leader in rowing equipment, serving customers and distributors across multiple continents. Their previous website, built on a headless platform with a wordpress backend, had become increasingly difficult to manage, update, and scale for international requirements. WinTech sought a new solution that would provide flexibility, improved content management, and a robust foundation for future growth.
BRIEF
The goal was to create a modern, non-transactional site that could support co-branding, distributor management, and multi-language content, while also ensuring GDPR compliance and ease of use for both the WinTech team and their global distributor network. The new platform needed to be intuitive, visually engaging, and ready to support WinTech’s expanding international presence.
HOW WE HELPED
Absolute managed the project from initial planning through to launch, taking responsibility for data migration, bespoke design, and technical implementation. Our team recommended Shopify for its reliability, scalability, and user-friendly content management, ensuring WinTech could efficiently update site content and manage distributor information in-house.
Typically Shopify sends all contact enquiries to a single email address, but with WinTech’s global distributor network, any enquiries needed to be sent directly to the relevant distributor based on the customer’s location. We developed a system to handle this requirement, as well as send the customer an email confirming their enquiry had been received and would be responded to shortly. All enquiries are additionally stored in the Shopify admin so there is a record and information about the number and nature of enquiries can be determined.
Finding a dealer globally was an important aspect of the site, and we built a system to make management of dealers and their teams as simple as possible for the WinTech admins. The site detects the visitor’s location and highlights the closest dealer, but the customer can search alternative locations if they like.
TESTING & LAUNCH
LONGER TERM
The site was built knowing that the longer term plan was to allow each regional distributor to have their own version of the site and customise to better suit their market. The US team already has theirs in place and the goal is to launch French, German, Spanish, Polish and Chinese versions of the new site to allow greater depth in translations and market specialisation.
